How to Get to Koh Mook
Getting to Koh Mook starts with reaching Trang province. From there, a short transfer and boat ride complete the journey. Here is every route broken down with current prices.
From Trang Airport (The Easiest Route)
This is how most travelers figure out how to get to Koh Mook. Fly into Trang Airport (TST) from Bangkok. Low-cost carriers operate daily flights. Inside the terminal, buy the combo minibus and boat ticket for 500 THB. This covers the minibus to the pier and the boat to Koh Mook. The whole Trang to Koh Mook transfer takes about 90 minutes.
I grabbed a private taxi from Trang Airport to the pier. It cost me 1,400 THB. Later I found out the combo minibus and boat ticket was 500 THB. Same destination. Same result. I just paid almost triple for no reason other than impatience. On the boat I met a couple who bought the combo ticket inside the terminal. The minibus takes maybe fifteen minutes longer. That is it. Next time I am buying the combo ticket before I even leave the airport building. Learn from my mistake and save yourself 900 THB.

From Phuket or Koh Lanta by Speedboat
Another popular way to get to Koh Mook is by speedboat from Phuket or Koh Lanta. During high season, speedboats connect both islands to Koh Mook. The Phuket route takes 3.5 to 4 hours and costs 1,600 to 1,800 THB. From Koh Lanta the ride is shorter and cheaper. This is a great option if you are island hopping through the Andaman. During Monsoon Season (May to October)
Knowing how to get to Koh Mook in monsoon season is critical. Between May and October, most speedboat services shut down completely. The seas get rough and ferry companies suspend operations. Your only option is a private longtail from Khuan Tung Ku or Had Yao pier. Expect to pay 800 to 1,500 THB for the crossing. Many hotels also close during this period. Plan your trip between November and April for the smoothest experience.

Most Koh Mook hotels on the west coast are smaller and simpler. Both sides are a short tuk-tuk ride apart. So pick your priority. Sunsets and swimming, or village life and dining.
Luxury Hotels
Koh Mook Sivalai Beach Resort is the only true luxury option on the island. It sits on a narrow sandbar with ocean on both sides. The resort has two pools, spacious villas and direct beach access. Mid-Range Hotels
Mook Lamai Resort and Spa is the best value Koh Mook hotel in my experience. It is not beachfront. The pool is gorgeous and the breakfast is outstanding. Staff arrange tuk-tuks anywhere for 50 THB. (9+)
Mook Lamai is not on the beach. That stopped bothering me after day one. The pool is gorgeous and the tuk-tuk gets you anywhere in minutes. But the real surprise came on my first evening. I was sitting by the pool when this incredible smell drifted across the road. Pizza. On a tiny island in the Andaman Sea. I followed my nose to a small place right across from the hotel. I ordered a thin crust pizza expecting nothing special. The first bite genuinely shocked me. Fresh toppings, crispy base, made to order right in front of me. I went back every single night for the rest of my stay. A small Thai island was the last place I expected to find great pizza. But Koh Mook is full of surprises like that.
